A 39-year-old man identified as Takashi Miyagawa has been arrested for dating 35 girlfriends at the same time and defrauding them.
The Japanese man fooled the 35 women to believe he loved them to get gifts for his fake birthdays.
According to New York Post, Takashi told each of his "girlfriends" that his birthday fell on a different date so he could receive a lot of gifts at the end of the year.
The serial dater, whose actual birthday is November 13, swindled the 35 women of $929.44 (R13 000) worth of birthday presents, cash and clothes. He targeted single women only and told them that he wanted to settle down as soon as possible.
Takashi Miyagawa, who is from Kansai region, southern area of Japan, is said to have met the women while working with a marketing company where he sold hydrogen water showerheads and other products.
After realising he was not the prince charming, they thought he was, the disgruntled women reported him to the police so as to teach him a lesson. The matter is still under police investigation.
