Lisa Rinna has a new interview with Buzzfeed News, which incidentally is about to be gutted, with several editors resigning and layoffs looming. That’s what happens when investors value profit over content. Lower-tier blogs like us rely on news teams to do investigative pieces. It’s not about us – democracy, truth and everyday people suffer when journalists lose their jobs. I’m just thinking of the show The Dropout, where they’re now showing the way that Theranos was exposed – through a piece by John Carreyrou in the Wall Street Journal.
I’m here to talk about Lisa Rinna and her stupid lips though. (I don’t really want to think about serious sh-t, which explains a lot about my career.) Lisa has a beauty brand that capitalizes on her famous lips called Rinna Beauty. The brand has been out since December, 2020, but the plumping glosses are a new launch. Lisa told Buzzfeed News that she loves her giant lips and wants to share that with people, essentially. She’s previously said that she’s not comfortable with the way she was being defined by her lips, which are the result of several surgeries to repair botched silicone injections. Here’s some of what she told Buzzfeed:
The key, she explained, is raw passion, and putting your all into something “that is truly authentic to who you are.”
Her core values and business acumen are more evident than ever with the launch of the Larger Than Life Plumping Glosses, where Lisa has deftly reclaimed the criticism over her plump pout while also helping fans re-create her iconic look.
“My lips are big, I wanted them big, I made them big, so now you too can have big lips,” she told BuzzFeed News…
“The fact that I did it when I was 57 years old is pretty remarkable to begin with,” she said after reflecting on the time it took to turn her dreams into reality.
“Nobody is escaping [aging]” she said, composing herself after bursting out in a priceless cackle to ease the weight of her somewhat morbid statement. “I think it’s such a personal journey as to how you want to age, and I don’t judge that in any way, shape, or form, because again I think it is truly personal.”
“I give credit to anybody that wants to age their own way — whether you want to do everything to yourself, or nothing to yourself. It’s really how you feel the most comfortable,” she added, steering clear of the overarching sense of shame that often clouds conversations about aging and cosmetic enhancements. “And I think it’s great that we have different role models for all of it.”
Rinna Beauty is all lip-based with plumping lip glosses, lip kits and liners. Prices range from $20 to $45, which is reasonable-ish. Lip plumpers don’t really work and the ones that do sting and are only temporary, which I know about because I’ve tried some. Maybe I need to splurge on some expensive ones. Good for Lisa for branching out from RHOBH though. Lisa and her husband, Harry Hamlin, are hustlers. They’re trying to instill that in their kids too. Lisa told Buzzfeed News their daughters “Know it does not come for free, and they know it is not easy, and so, if you want to do this, you have to work!” She added “Even if you’ve got a little step in the door, you still have to prove yourself even more!” Getting your foot in the door is half the battle, but OK.
Lisa looks like she stepped out of a Robert Palmer video.
