While you establish your milk supply, dummies might prove more of a hinderance than a help. Your baby is giving you hunger cues so often (and boy do we know it’s often – we’ve weathered that storm three times over) to get your milk supply up and running. The more you remove milk, the more milk your body will produce. So, if you give your baby a dummy, then they’re missing a chance to remove milk and they’re also missing a chance to practice the fine art of feeding. If you can hold off deploying a dummy for two weeks, or even better four, then you will be doing yourself a huge favour in the long run.
